About Us
Simon Thomas Pirie Furniture was established over two decades ago by Simon Pirie. In 2007 the business significantly expanded, moving to its current location at Briantspuddle, near Dorchester in Dorset. All projects are now manufactured at the well-equipped ‘Courtyard Workshops’ where the showroom is also located.

We at Simon Thomas Pirie Ltd pride ourselves on creating furniture and interiors that are very special because our clients, be they individuals, architects or interior designers, demand excellence. They are looking for us to design and make something exquisite, something extraordinary; this can be seen in the many kitchens, studies, bars, home entertainment areas and free-standing furniture illustrated on our project pages.

A significant proportion of our work is designed in-house for private clients though we do increasingly manufacture designs for architects, interior designers and others. When this is the case, we get involved in the design process from the early stages of a project, working collaboratively to deliver exceptional service and solutions.

Our future looks exciting with further plans to significantly expand the workshops, design studio and showroom areas here at the Courtyard workshops.

Testimonials
Bournemouth University
“Having used Simon Thomas Pirie for 20 years at Bournemouth University – for our high-status ceremonial and Senate Room furniture, I can honestly say that the design and quality of workmanship are both simply superb. I'm very happy to endorse them wholeheartedly.”

Testimonials
Searchfield Homes Ltd
“Simon Thomas Pirie designed a kitchen for the Thurlestone House property, a kitchen that was a stunning design in its own right but also really made sense from each of the 4 key spaces that connected to it. The ground floor of the house flows seamlessly from room to room, with the kitchen forming a dramatic centre-piece.”

Testimonials
ZMMA Architects
“Simon Thomas Pirie (STP) quickly tunes-into the design approach for a particular project and as a consequence we always have very enjoyable design sessions with them. When an opportunity came up for ZMMA and STP to pitch together for some public space projects in North Dorset, we worked jointly to win three projects. STP’s inventiveness and ingenuity led to us being able to create exciting installations together, for example, some complex-curved, significant oak public seating pieces.”

Testimonials
Hutchinson Kivotos Architects
“Public art is a way of adding quality to a space and creating a focal point. This shopping arcade had been designed in the 80's and needed to be shown a little love, so we asked Simon Thomas Pirie to design us seating people could love – with a love seat. We wanted something functional that had a sense of craft and joy, and he has delivered.”

About Us
Timber & Materials Policy

We take our environmental responsibilities seriously, using only sustainable and, wherever possible, UK-sourced timber in our projects. Timber, veneers and other natural materials vary greatly and our team’s expertise in taking time to visit suppliers and selecting stock is another key aspect to achieving perfect end results.

With rare native timbers like English walnut, we often source, cut and dry our own logs to ensure they always have access to stock that other furniture makers would struggle to find. We work with specialist timber yards, foresters and millers to ensure good supplies and knowledge of the best logs available.
