Furniture for Sale – Summer 2017

Monday, June 12th, 2017

We have various ex-show pieces on sale with significant reductions on what would be their ‘commissioned’ price. Once a speculative piece has done a number of exhibitions for us we feel it has ‘earned its keep’ and it’s time to find it a new home. This ensures there is always something new to look at on a visit to the Courtyard Gallery and gives us the opportunity to replace a showroom piece with new design ideas.

Although most of the furniture is usually here in the showroom at the Courtyard Workshop we are also taking part in Making Dorset (June 30th to July 2nd) so some of the pieces will be on show there for the duration of the exhibition. Please refer to the ‘Location’ text.

The Courtyard Gallery & Workshops are open by appointment, so if you would like to come along and see the furniture please get in contact with Simon, Bridget or John.

2015 sees us planning lots of new speculative pieces, but more on that later….

It’s fair to say we don’t have an awful lot of ex show / display work we are selling off at the moment, we sold lots of pieces throughout 2014. However there are a couple of items we’d love to find new homes for…

The first of those is our ‘Rosa’ native ash dressing table, we have just sold her sibling, a walnut desk called ‘Ronald’.

‘Rosa’ is in bleached English ash with an oval adjustable mirror and a single drawer with divides and a pink leather drawer lining.
Dimensions: 120cm x 70cm, 134 cm high (to top of mirror)
For sale: £1950 (£3950 to commission new)

Oval side tables with magazine shelf in elm and black walnut. These innovative side tables come as an oval so can be used as a centre coffee table or split to sit on the ends of a sofa as an occasional drinks table. Either way really useful and flexible.
Dimensions: 70cm x 50cm, 50 cm high (when as one oval)
For sale: £775 for pair (£1750 to commission new)

Modern Dresser Cabinet in oak and ripple ash. Open oak shelves above with 2 doors and single drawer in cabinet section. A piece that would look stunning in a kitchen, reception room or hallway. The ultimate in practical contemporary furniture pieces.

For sale: £3950 (£4750 to commission new)

Most of these pieces are available to view at the Courtyard Gallery by appointment. If you require more information please don’t hesitate to contact Simon.

Purbeck Art Weeks Open Workshop

Monday, May 20th, 2013

We are just getting ready to welcome visitors to our 2013 Open Workshops, as part of the Purbeck Art Weeks Festival (PAW). The workshop and gallery, based in the north of Purbeck near Briantspuddle, will be open from 10am till 5pm every day from Saturday 25 May through till Friday 7 June.

This year Simon will be exhibiting examples of his exquisitely designed tables, chairs, cabinets, desks and occasional pieces. You will be able to wonder around the workshops, see current work in progress and talk to the makers as they work. There will also be the rare opportunity to buy some ex-display pieces for sale at less than half price, it’s a real chance to bag a bespoke bargain! The dining tables pictured below are two such pieces, for more specific information about size materials and cost click here.

Most of Simon’s work is one-off commissions, unique pieces made to individual requirements, so if there is a piece you have always wanted made – whether it’s a small side table or fitted library, a dining set or one of Simon’s incredible kitchens, do come and have an informal chat about your ideas.

There will be a good selection of new work on show including ‘Rosa’, our stunning new dressing table. ‘Floating Bench’ a new garden piece recently taken on by Liberty’s as part of their ‘Outdoor Living Collection’ will also be on display.

Locally produced cheese and breads will be available over the weekends, along with a glass of something cold to compliment the warm welcome. If you hold the fairly commonly held opinion that things in this country are not made the way they used to be, then Simon’s workshop is a good place to go to dispel that idea.

Purbeck Art Weeks – Saturday 25th May – Friday 7th June, Open from 10am – 5pm. (Please note we are not open for the final weekend of the event which runs until Sunday 9th June). For information on performances and all the artists and makers taking part in PAW visit the event website.
